Almost at the 11th hour hall plans for the Centenary National had to be changed but it was well worth the effort to make space for the Moscow Cat Museum! It is a great honour for the National Cat Club that this will be the first time this exciting traveling exhibition has been seen in the UK.
The Moscow Cat Museum was founded in Moscow in March of 1993, organized by The Gallery of Modern Arts, "INTER". The collection in the Museum is based on everything that is in any way connected with the theme of CAT in art and life.
The major programme "CAT'S EYE", includes different works of art: paintings, graphics, ceramics, batiks, tapestries, costumes, applications, dolls etc. all showing the theme of CAT through the eyes of the artists, presenting every style and trend of modern art. There are more than 1,500 works of art and the collection is constantly being expanded.
A special section of the collection is titled "WOMEN & CATS", depicting the essence of the relations between, as it states in the brochure, "…the most exciting creatures of nature".
In addition to art works, the MOSCOW CAT MUSEUM includes in its exhibition souvenirs, photographs, films, cartoons, toys, postcards and many other different items, all with the theme of the cat.
The MOSCOW CAT MUSEUM traveling exhibition has been at many European Shows but this is a "first" for the UK and a great honour for the National Centenary Show - DON'T MISS IT!
