Portret

Alexander Korolev is undoubtedly one of the most interesting Russian artists of the present time. It can even be said that he is a painter of the XXI century. He has managed to create in his work his own new universe.
The tension of light and dark, which we are so poignantly aware of at the end of the XX century is in the creative work of this artist a focal point. It seems that Alexander Korolev manages to come closer to those evasive mystical elements which influence humanity.
He expresses his understanding in "improvisations" which have quite an extradordinary effect on the onlooker inviting him towards light and goodness. The observer can become aware of waves of energy emanating from the paintings.
Korolev's improvisations are complicated in concept and executed with a light touch, full of meaning and concise with meticulous attention to detail. The artist has the gift given to few, an ability to express spirituality. This lifts his works to something more than mere pictures. His paintings radiate energy and light.
Alexander Korolev is first of all a Russian artist, rooted in the tradition and spirit of the Russian culture. Capturing the Russian spirit in his paintings comes to him as natural as breathing. This is probably why the most prestigeous art-collections of the world seek to get his works.
The Russian theme is profoundly represented in Korolev's work. He combines respect for the tradition of the Russian Schools of Painting with his independent und unique perception and interpretation gained through his own experiences.

"EVERYTHING, THAT HAPPENS IN THE LIFE, HAPPENS BETWEEN LIGHT AND DARKNESS AND I TRY TO REFLECT THIS OPPOSITION IN MY IMPROVISATIONS..."
